Wonderful! One thing I wonder about is whether to credit which student created the work. Usually I try to ask if they want to be credited by name or not. Sometimes I think they like to be named and sometimes I think they prefer anonymity. Sometimes I think it's good for students to try to figure out -- was that mine? Whose was that? Sometimes I don't credit if I want to highlight a mistake, even if it's a beautiful mistake. But either way, I agree, I can tell students like having their work appreciated and documented.

Thank you for sharing all of this valuable information. I will definitely implement this in my classroom. I was wondering, what difference have you seen in your students’ test score with implementing BTC?

I'm still waiting on the SAT scores to see if students improved. They seemed to be more confidant about their answers than they were last year. I do notice that students are better problem solvers and will persevere longer than they did before.

A good example of what a thoughtful, caring, patient, and flexible teacher is able to do. I wish I'd had you as my math instructor when I was growing up (though there is still a question of whether you'd have let me divide by zero: https://thingstoread.substack.com/p/can-you-divide-by-zero/comment/40543990 )

What a great idea! I am doing a similar thing with taking pictures of students work and then putting them in a google doc. I add today’s date paste the pictures (selecting and sequencing nicely) as well as add a photo of example notes and consolidation that I would have done on a whiteboard while discussing the new ideas. Students appreciate the ability to go back and see what they did in previous class.

I LOVE this idea Robin!

I have done something similar to this using Seesaw years ago - the added bonus was that students and parents could see the pictures, videos, etc. The app has video capabilities so I had them video taping themselves or video taping them teaching each other. Parents LOVED this! I told students that the incentive for them taking these videos is that their parents will see them learning in school and doing hard things. I could send it in real time and it was a way I learned to satisfy the need parents have to know how their kids are doing.

There are so many things that Seesaw could be used for 12-ish years ago I can only imagine its capabilities now.
